About the Book

Genetically modified pollen creates sterility in human males worldwide, the impact is unimaginable and the race to find a cure is imperative.
The medical profession identifies a sudden halt to pregnancies globally. The world freefalls into turmoil and huge rewards are offered for any fertile man, but none appear. Scientists add to the anxiety of the world by calculating the decline of humanity. in Sussex UK, Tony and Jane Hare specialise in the assessment of genetically modified crops submitted for release. Jane discovers genetic modifications made to a strain of rapeseed plant yields a previously unnoticed side effect. The plant's pollen is nullified rendering it incapable of cross-pollinating with other species or spreading out of control. One single grain of pollen absorbed by a human male; through inhalation or skin contact generates a reaction within the body that renders the man infertile. They require backup scientific evidence and meet their university friend Jonathan Fletcher a recognised expert, in the USA. They prove the pollen caused the effect, but it was designed by GMCUSA (Genetically Modified Crops USA) a powerful organisation that could prevent an announcement. They have a mutual friend, Amrit Kohli who is a world-renowned diplomat, and conservation activist, respected across the planet, so they go to Mumbai India to ask him to release the news.
Jonathan is kidnapped on his way to the airport by GMCUSA and in a dramatic change of events, the team are offered huge money by Berenice Lawson Chief Executive of GMCUSA to find a cure. The team decide that finding a cure is the most important factor and releasing a cure with the cause would lessen public anxiety. Back in the USA, they begin work, but there is a power struggle, and Director of research Mario Lombardo is replaced by Jane. He is so angry that he releases the information to world press but he and the owners of GMCUSA are all jailed. The Florida team members and their families move with them back to Mumbai. They include a Japanese scientist known as Jerry, his wife Koshi and their highly intelligent young son Kioto, a keen zoologist who provides facts about animal species to anyone listening. Mario's announcement generates mass hysteria and people begin to burn thousands of hectares of corn, oats, and other crops across the planet even though they are not the cause of the sterility. This results in a world food shortage and another problem for mankind. Governments second every green space by law that must be used to grow fruit, vegetables, or other foodstuffs. Animals begin to starve as there is insufficient food for them and even wildlife is affected. All nonessential work is halted as everyone physically capable is required to work on the land or at food processing plants or fisheries, to rescue the human population and ensure that wildlife across the planet can survive.
Over time four fertile males, surface, and scientists try to work with them to impregnate women with sufficient genetic differences to ensure the survival of mankind.
In the Mumbai lab, young Kioto is sitting with Suzy, one of the scientists in the laboratory, mainly because of her knowledge of animal biology. While looking through the notes of all the fertile males, he notices three of them have had a similar experience so a vaccine is developed that simulates this and the cure is found. Humanity learns compassion, kindness and understanding. Except Mario Lombardi after ten years in jail. He is about to secretly release a new strain of oats, specially modified with vengeful intentions
