About the Book

Mario Vargas Llosa

ENGLISH DESCRIPTIONVladimir Nabokov, although primarily known for his masterpiece, Lolita (1955), was also a prolific short stories author. His production in the art of writing extends for over forty years of literary career. His Complete Stories are therefore a peephole into the development process of the Russian author. From his earliest stories collected in El retorno de Chorb / The Return of Chorb, in 1930, to the stories written in his last years of his life, the writer shows all his genius. One by one, the reasons why Nabokov is considered a classic in contemporaneity, march right in front of the reader.

What an amazing beauty in the phrases, twists, brilliant examples of wit and depth of feelings ... Nabokov's gift is to recreate paradise wherever he gazes. -John Updike

One of the most classic and innovative short story sets that a reader can enjoy. One of the most consistent and certainly the most daring and ambitious one. - Javier Marías

The eminent art created by Nabokov was not a criticism of what exists, but rather a way to disembody life, dissolving it in a dazzling mirage of abstractions. -Mario Vargas Llosa
