About the Book

Forty Days that Changed the World is a narrative history of the early Christian church from the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus through the end of the Apostolic Age and the death of the last witness to the resurrection. Dr. Rowe describes how Jesus physically rose from the dead and appeared on ten separate occasions to hundreds of witnesses. He then follows those witnesses, as well as Paul and the first converts, as, even in the face of persecution and death, they created the Christian religion and established churches throughout the Roman Empire and in Armenia, Parthia, Scythia and India by the end of the first century. This book is thoroughly researched from the earliest sources available, including the canonical and non-canonical gospels, the Acts of the Apostles and accounts that purport to be the Acts of individual Apostles, the letters of Paul, Peter and John, the writings of the Early Church Fathers from Clement of Rome through Jerome, and the histories of Eusebius, Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius and Cassius Dio. Dr. Rowe presents an accurate account of the origins of Christianity and, in the course of doing so, he presents a convincing case that the resurrection of Jesus was a true historical event.
About the Author: Drew Rowe was born on September 10, 1946 in Durham, NC. He is an historian, author, public speaker and retired educator. Dr. Rowe has a Bachelor of Arts (1968) in history from Wake Forest University, a Master of Arts (1969) in history from Wake Forest University, Advanced Graduate Studies (1971 - 1973) in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate in education (1990) from N. C. State University. He has 30 years of experience teaching ancient, medieval and modern history at the college-level. He has also served as the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Guilford Technical Community College in High Point, NC, and as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Rowe has been President of the Association of Historians in Eastern North Carolina, Chairman of the Community College Humanities Association, Southern Division, a consultant for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Association of Higher Education, and project director for several grants funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the U. S. Department of Education and the North Carolina Humanities Council. He has made numerous presentations to national and regional conferences. Dr. Rowe and his wife, Linda, live in St. Matthews, SC. He is a ruling elder at St. Matthews Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
