From 1963-65 he completed a U.S. Steel Graduate Fellowship in Philosophy at the University of Colorado. In 1966, he served a one-year internship in General Medicine (Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN) at St. Anthony's Hospital, Denver, and was licensed in 1967; he has practiced general and family medicine ever since, first in Colorado (1967-74) and New York (1969-70), then in New Mexico (1975-82), and currently in Massachusetts (1983-present), for a total of 47 years seeing patients of all ages. Attending over 600 home births between 1969 and 1982, he became interested in natural therapies as part of that experience, especially herbal medicine; Japanese acupuncture, which he studied with Sensei Masahilo Nakazono in Santa Fe (1974-75); and classical homeopathy, which he began studying in 1974 and has practiced more or less exclusively since 1975. After his initial training with the National Center for Homeopathy, based in Washington, D. C., he has studied with Prof. George Vithoulkas in Greece, Dr. Rajan Sankaran and his school in India, and various other practitioners in the US and abroad. He has taught seminars and courses and lectured widely on homeopathy and related subjects, and has written four books, 1) Homeopathic Medicine for Pregnancy and Childbirth (1992); 2) Resonance: The Homeopathic Point of View (2001), a treatise for the general reader; 3) Plain Doctoring: Selected Writings, 1983-2013 (2013); and 4) More Doctoring: Selected Writings, vol. 2, 1977-2014 (2014), as well as many articles on homeopathy and natural medicine, including "The Case Against Immunizations," "Why I Became a Homeopath," "Vaccination: a Sacrament of Modern Medicine," "Some Thoughts on the Malpractice Crisis," "Hidden in Plain Sight: the Role of Vaccines in Chronic Disease," and "Vaccines, Drugs, and Other Causes: a Homeopath Looks at the Medical System."
