About the Author: Samantha Cooke is Senior Lecturer in International Relations and International Politics at Liverpool John Moores University. Her research explores the relationship between secularism, the individual and the state in the Middle East North Africa region. She has published in National Identities, Women's Studies International Forum and Education Information Technologies. She has also co-authored a chapter in Terrorism and Political Violence: The evolution of contemporary insecurity (SAGE Publications, 2015).
