Sie verändert unser Leben auf gesellschaftlicher, wirtschaftlicher und politischer Ebene. Somit ermöglicht die Digitalisierung uns eine ganze neue Form zu kommunizieren und Informationen zu verbreiten. Dieser Wandel der sich schon seit Jahren vollzieht, hat auch einen enormen Einfluss auf die Verlagshäuser und deren Strategien. Deswegen ist das Thema: Strategien von Zeitungsverlagen im Wandel der Medienindustrie immer noch ein hoch relevantes Thema. Die klassischen Verlagshäuser haben über die Jahre diverse Herangehensweisen getestet und erforscht und werden auch in Zukunft wieder auf neue Herausforderungen stoßen. Dementsprechend kann der Forschungsstand dieses weitreichenden Themas ebenfalls als reichhaltig bezeichnet werden. In dieser Arbeit werden deshalb die Verlagshäuser und die dazugehörigen Strategien, mit Fokus auf Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, analysiert. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird als erstes die Entwicklung der Medienindustrie aufgezeigt und hierbei wird vor Allem die Veränderung im Markt der Verlagshäuser, näher erläutert. Anschließend wird in Kapitel 3 auf die unterschiedlichen Strategien, mit ihren neuen und innovativen Geschäftsmodellen eingegangen und aufgezeigt, welche Voraussetzungen notwendig sind, um langfristig erfolgreich zu sein. Hierzu wird ein Vergleich von unterschiedlichen Strategien von Verlagshäusern herangezogen. In Kapitel 4 werden erfolgreich angewendete Strategien der Verlagshäuser Axel Springer und ZEIT dargestellt. Diese zeigen die Wichtigkeit von innovativen und digitalen Strategien. Zum einen wird gezeigt wie ein nationales Verlagshaus, das sich auf einem absteigenden Markt befindet, zu einem internationalen digitalen Medienimperium entwickelt hat und damit in neue zukunft
