About the Book

As early as the 1970's, Ken Heskett had begun writing poetry, being inspired to pen thoughts about his observations on life and the various people he had met on his path. His subsequent knowledge of metaphysics helped give purposeful meaning to his later writings and he felt driven to compose poems that would help explain man's relationship to himself, to other's and to that higher power that has always been his sustaining force; hence "The Voice of Voices, Voices, Voices" was written. Ken now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Margot.
About the Author: Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1926, and his mother having died shortly after his birth, Ken was raised by his maternal grandmother until age twelve. They were very poor and lived mostly in the city slums, their predicament made all the more severe by the Great Depression. When his grandmother became too ill to care for him, Ken hitch-hiked to Detroit, Michigan with not even a penny in his pockets hoping to find his father. While living with his father and brother, he worked at several menial-type jobs in lieu of furthering his education. He eventually became a Western Union boy delivering singing telegrams in Detroit. Life in Detroit was equally hard for Ken. Despite the trials of his young life, he was sustained by an innate optimism, the drive to self-improve, and an inner belief in a higher power. His early circumstances provided a broader spectrum of understanding beyond most people's at such a young age. During World War II Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy, partaking in the vital battles of Wake Island and The Philippines. When the war ended, Ken graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with degrees in Business Administration and Speech. Shortly before entering college he married and became the father of three sons, Dan, Ken, and Jeff. Ken became a top notch salesman and worked for various companies during his career over the next several years. In the early 1980's Ken became interested in metaphysics, taking courses and teaching classes on the subject. He also joined the Theosophical Society of St. Louis, served as its librarian, and later became president of the organization.
