A J LyneA J (Amanda Jane) Lyne was born in Bristol, England in 1972 and moved to New Zealand in 1977 with her parents and two younger brothers. She therefore considers herself a 'BrieWii' (British/Kiwi), as she has lived, ever since, caught between the two geat, distant islands. A lover of ideas and reading, she has a Masters in English Literature from The University of Auckland. 'A Better Ending' (2017) is her first novel which she delighted in crafting around the lives of three generations of her feisty, beautiful and broken ancestors who were born and grew up in the Midlands, Great Britain: Her great-grandmother, Charlotte, grandmother, Elsa and, her mother, Linda. She is interested in exploring in her work themes of 'loss and betrayal', 'secrets and lies', 'love and redemption, 'hope and heartbreak', 'Faith and mysticism' and the destructive impact of inter-generational cycles of behavior (poverty, abuse, unfaithfulness, rejection etc). She believes that 'it's never too late to begin a better ending'. For fourteen years she worked at The University of Auckland in Alumni Relations and then two and a half years ago she moved to Magical Mangawhai on the East Coast of the North Island to pursue a coastal, rural, creative dream. She lives with her two eccentric cats (Willow, the chocolate/silver Siamese, and Inka, the ebony Oriental). She is passionate about living an authentic, adventurous, whole-hearted, kind, curious, spiritual, generous and connected life. Read More Read Less
