A P HaroBorn and raised in the cold, rainy northwest state of Oregon, I had plenty of time to read as a child, fueled by a vivid imagination that brought countless scenes and characters to life. Writing came naturally to me, but it wasn't until my senior yea of high school that my Advanced Placement Writing teacher gave me a glowing review for a fictional historical piece I wrote. It was just five pages long, but it sparked a realization: storytelling was something I was meant to do.
For years, however, writing took a backseat as I focused on music and lyrics, as well as navigating various careers in tech call centers, hospitals, and government positions. I spent years searching for the elusive work-life balance that would allow me to return to writing. When COVID-19 struck the United States, I decided it was time to stop waiting. It was during that period that The Misfit Stories began to take shape.
I chose to focus on short stories because they allow me to explore a variety of themes and ideas without the time commitment of a novel. That said, my favorite novels combine elements of several genres, blending them into cohesive, compelling narratives. At this stage in my writing career, I'm focused on developing my skills across multiple genres, working towards the ultimate goal of creating what I consider a masterful piece of literature.
When I'm not writing, I'm usually traveling with my dog, Ree, in search of new adventures, soaking in the beauty of nature, playing music, and drawing. Of course, I can't be a complete monk, so I indulge in wild pursuits like riding motorcycles, skydiving, surfing, and other adrenaline-fueled gambles. Whether it's exploring the outdoors, chasing my next thrill, or creating art, I believe in the power of these pursuits to sustain the human soul.
