A StarAshley Starling, known as A Star, was born and raised in Portsmouth, Va. She is a mother of 2 and they her the inspiration to write. She picked up her love of writing again many years after she won 2nd place in TCC's black history writing contest. Inbetween time, she has sat on community involved boards like The Parks and Recs Commission (Portsmouth), The Man Foundation, which helps reduce recidivism through workshops, events, drives, job prep and much more. Her day job is a Holter Tech (heart scanner) in which she is certified. She has served her community through various events, hosting events for children and creating products that will help tween/teen girls build confidence, self-esteem and have open and honest conversations about themselves and others.
