As founder and director of The Human Resilience Project, she leads expeditions to remote communities worldwide tounderstand how people confront trauma, conflict, and climate-driven upheaval, sharing those insights to help broaden global mental healthcare and integrate Indigenous and complementary healing practices. In an era when research is often dismissed, she turned to fiction to reach people in a different way.
