ALEX DOULISAlex was born in Vancouver in 1939. After graduation from the University of B.C. he worked as a geologist in western N. America. His mathematical education led to his application of computers to mining, particularly new project evaluation. He moved t the financial industry and earned his CFA designation in 1978. Although a top raked analyst his ethnicity restricted his corporate advancement (described in his book "Lost on Bay Street)." He left his establishment employer to join start-up brokerage, Gordon Securities, which destroyed many of the restrictive practices on Canadian markets to become the largest firm on Bay Street. He retired in 1990 at age 50 to sail the Mediterranean for 15 years. While living on his sail boat he wrote the mega best seller "Take Your Money & Run."
