Alexander BelovAlexander Belov graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1994. For many years he worked in the field of physical oceanography and his first PhD was devoted to the issues of marine ecology. In 1999 he took part i his first underwater excavations in the Bay of Abukir with the team of l’Institut Européen d’Archéologie sous-marine (IEASM). Soon he started taking interest in ancient shipbuilding and navigation and became a member of Center for Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (CES RAS). Alexander regularly participates in excavations of IEASM in Alexandria and in the Bay of Abukir and in those of CES RAS in Memphis, Luxor and Alexandria. In 2014 he obtained his PhD in archaeology with the University of Bordeaux Montaigne.
