His interest in transpersonal psychology and cross-cultural healing spans his adult life and has led him to participate in guided entheognic journeys in natural settings, using a vision quest model, and to learn shamanic techniques from an experienced mentor. This work contributed to a deeper understanding of the natural world's inherent intelligence and love for the Earth. His primary concern in life is the existential threat to humanity due to environmental degradation. He became inspired to produce visionary artwork, writing, and music as aspects of his creativity. He is a musician who plays various guitar styles, clawhammer old-time banjo, and harmonica, and enjoys singing.
