Alexis ?De? TocquevilleAlexis de Tocqueville (29 July 1805- 16 April 1859) was born in Paris France. He was a French political scientist, politician, and historian. As he was born into an aristocratic family, he entered government service by his own choice. After the July evolution of 1830, his position became unsafe in view of his family's connections to the expelled king, and he began with a nine-month study trip to the United States. Among this, it came his most popular work, Democracy in America, an exceptionally perceptive and intuitive analysis of the American political and social system, as well as of the animation, excesses, and expected future of democracy, with attention to what is happening in France. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1839 and held different political offices after the Revolution of 1848.
