Amal Mahmoud

Amal Mahmoud, PhD, is a Professor of Bioinformatics, Head of the Department of Bioinformatics, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute (GEBRI), University of Sadat City, Egypt, previously worked as a Professor of Bionformatics, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia (2017-2022). She had a PhD fellowship in CIRAD-Montpellier, France (1995-1998) and previously worked at UC-Davis-CA as a post-doc (2001-2002) in the field of viral bioinformatics. She teaches undergraduate and graduate bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology, gene regulation and virology as well as supervises research students. Her current research is focused on the application of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics tools for developing novel therapeutic strategies for emerging viruses.
