Amarendra KumarAmarendra Kumar is an Associate Professor at Visva-Bharati, a central university and an Institute of National Importance (INI), in Santiniketan, West Bengal. He also taught at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, Pune, for a decade, from 2000to 2011. He completed his Masters and MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and in 2010, he was awarded PhD from Pune University for his thesis titled Maratha Navy: An Enquiry into Its Limitations and Contemporary Challenges. His goal is to connect Maratha naval history with the broader field of Indian Ocean studies.
