Andile Alfred Mdikana|Andile Mdikana - Editor|Dr Andile Alfred Mdikana is currently employed as Senior Lecturer at the University of South Africa in the Department of Inclusive Education since November 2012 to date. He is currently mentoring colleagues who have PhD’s on rticle writing for publication in peer reviewed journals. During his tenure at UNISA, he has developed modules on UNDERSTANDING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. His academic citizenship includes the co-ordinatorship of the RESEARCH and MENTORSHIP committees and has been a member of the Higher Degrees in the Department of Inclusive Education. Furthermore, he has represented the department at college level in the Research and Higher Degrees committees. In addition to that he is also the primary lecturer and coordinator of the module called ‘Addressing barriers to learning’ and ‘Advocacy for people with Disabilities’. Dr. A.A. Mdikana is a Registered Educational Psychologist since 2008. Prior to this appointment, he worked for Gauteng Department of Education as the Deputy Chief Education Specialist for Inclusion and Special Schools. It is worth noting that he spent four years running a private practice. He obtained his BEd (Guidance & Counselling) from the University of the Western Cape, his MEd (Specialized Education) from the University of Stellenbosch, his MEd (Educational Psychology) from the University of Johannesburg and his DEd (Inclusive Education) from the University of South Africa. He worked as a Psychology and Guidance Methodology lecturer at Wits University. He has worked as a Psychologist/Student Counsellor at the Universities of Johannesburg and Fort Hare. His main activities included counselling and psychotherapy, psychological assessment, workshop design (conceptualization, implementation and evaluation). At Fort Hare University he, also co-ordinated student development programs in the residences and conceptualized and implemented Gender Based Violence Wellness Programs and he also on a part-time basis at UFH worked as a Psychology 3 Lecturer teaching Psychotherapy/therapeutic interventions. In 2006 he served as one of the presiding officers for the 2006 SRC elections and in the same year he served as the Hall Co-ordinator of the Esselen Residence at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has held several positions such as HIV/AIDS Consultant/Training Officer, School Psychologist, Life-Skills Facilitator, ABET Educator and ABET Curriculum Advisor, Special and High School Educator and Acting Principal.
