A scholar of Roman urbanism, he has directed archaeological projects in Italy, Israel, Turkey, Syria, Georgia, and Jordan. He is the author of Ancient Antioch: From te Seleucid Era to the Islamic Conquest (Cambridge University Press, 2016) and co-author of Antioch: A History (Routledge, 2021), which won the Ernest Wright Book Award.
