Anthony DatDr Anthony Dat is an Australian trained Urological Surgeon based in Melbourne, with a particular focus on complex renal stones and urological cancers. He also holds an Adjunct Lecturer position at the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Science, Monash University.Anthony graduated from medical school at Bond University, Gold Coast. He moved to Victoria for surgical training and completed Urology training via the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) training scheme. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2022 where he was awarded the Peter Lawson Award for Best Victorian Registrar. He then completed further subspecialty training in urologic oncology and robotic surgery at Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust, United Kingdom.Anthony holds a Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney as well as a Master of Science (Surgical Science and Practice) from Oxford University. Interested in health policy and health system strategy, he has a Master of Public Health from University of New South Wales and is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Administrators.His research interests include urologic oncology, stone disease, environmental health, artificial intelligence and robotic applications in surgery.He is also a contributor to The Conversation, where he writes on urological health and public health issues. His work has led to invitations to discuss these topics on Australian radio, including interviews with ABC Radio and 2GB Sydney, helping translate evidence based medicine for a broader audience.
