Anthony Suarez"Anthony Suarez was first elected to the Ridgefield Borough Council in November of 1998, and re-elected in November of 2001. After serving in his Borough Council position for five years, he was elected mayor of the Borough of Ridgefield in November o 2003. He was the first Democrat to serve as Ridgefield mayor in over 20 years and only the second in the history of the town. Mayor Suarez was re-elected in 2007 and again in 2011. He is the first mayor in the history of the United States to win a recall election while under indictment.

Mayor Suarez also maintains a law practice at the firm he founded, Werner Suarez, in Hackensack, New Jersey, where he focuses on local government law, civil litigation, and personal injury law. He lives in his childhood town of Ridgefield with his wife, Catherine, and his two children, Laura and Matthew. His parents, Angie and Joe Ponticorvo, also live nearby.
