Dr Arlene P Weekes has 34years’ experience in social work, primarily in senior management roles. She is a published author, independent fostering panel chair, a management and training consultant and Director of EPPJ Ltd. Over the last four years she has been a senior university lecturer (SFHEA) leading modules on Readiness for Direct Practice, Understanding Equality and Diversity for Social Work Practice and Ethics, Human Rights for Social Work Practice, and Effective Multi-Agency Working, utilising student-centred, constructivist, and action learning pedagogies. Arlene's research interests include race, (specifically Black women), religion, the impact of values on decision-making, and student engagement.
Her PhD research focused on how individuals'
biographies, attitudes, and values influence the decision-making processes, emphasising the importance of self-awareness and managing both conscious and unconscious influences.
Arlene introduced the concept of Effective Personal and Professional Judgment (EPPJ), a framework aimed at improving decision-making by understanding internal and external influences.
