Arpita Mukherjee

Arpita Mukherjee is a Professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), New Delhi, with a PhD in Economics from the University of Portsmouth, UK. She has several years of experience in poliy-oriented research and works closely with the Government of India and policy-makers in the European Union (EU), the US, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asian countries. She has conducted studies for international organisations, such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), ASEAN Secretariat, Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO, UK), Italian Trade Commission, Konrad–Adenauer–Stiftung (KAS), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Her research is a key contributor to India’s negotiating strategies in the WTO and bilateral agreements. She has written chapters in joint study group reports for the Indian Government and has led research teams that have made pioneering contributions to India’s domestic policy reforms in areas, such as logistics, retail and special economic zones.
