Athanasios Alexiou
Prof. Dr. Athanasios Alexiou holds a BSc in Applied Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics Algorithms and Mathematical Modeling in Biology, and completed a two-year Postdoc Research Felowship in Neuroinformatics Applications from the Ionian University. He currently collaborates with research teams from King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia) and the University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). Additionally, he serves as a Faculty Member at the Department of Science and Engineering at the Novel Global Community Education Foundation (an Educational platform registered in Australia) and as a senior researcher at the AFNP Med Company in Austria.Dr. Alexiou's primary research interests lie in the field of Computational Biomedicine. His work involves developing innovative mathematical models and algorithms for neurodegenerative diseases, creating prognostic Bayesian tools for Alzheimer's disease, identifying molecular mechanisms of infectious diseases, particularly the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and exploring the ethical implications of scientific research.
