Barry I. SorokaBarry Soroka studied physics and English at Yale, graduating in 1971. He received MSE and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. His studies included how computers can understand objects presented as stacks of slices. This work is relevant to CAT scans, MRI scans, and various other modern imaging modalities. Dr. Soroka then spent two years as a post-doc at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab studying robotics. He transferred his knowledge to the University of Southern California where he was instrumental in establishing their first robotics laboratories and courses. He did fundamental work in robot simulation and robot programming languages.
