Other accolades include induction into North Carolina's Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the Distinguished Service Award from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Broyhill Award for Community Service.Buxton resides with his wife Lyn in Blowing Rock and Bluffton, South Carolina.
