Basil SolouniasBasil Solounias is a Reverend Father of the Orthodox Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he has run his ministry since becoming ordained in 1981. In addition to running his ministry, Basil works as a freelance interpreter for the Government ofAlberta. He has spent his life promoting education, culture, and spirituality in both the Muslim and Christian communities alike. Basil began work on translating The Girl of Ghassan shortly before completing his theological education and continued to work away at it over the years, serializing chapters of the manuscript for the Arab community of Edmonton through the Canadian Edmonton Arab News in much the same way that Zaidan serialized the original manuscript. Basil was born in Ras Baalbeck in Lebanon, and educated at St. Vladimir's Seminary and the Adelphi University in New York, and at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Father Basil has been a proud Canadian citizen for over thirty years.
