Betty Trapp Chapman
Betty Trapp Chapman is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi, and a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. A resident of Houston for thirty-eight years, she has an abiding interest in the city's history and continuing development. She haslectured extensively to civic and professional groups and has taught adult-education courses on the history of Houston. Her widely-read column, "Houston Heritage," appears weekly in the Houston Business Journal; and her published works include Houston Then and Now, a supplemental text used in the area's elementary schools, and "From the Parlor to the Public: New Roles for Women in Houston, 1885-1918," which appeared in The Houston Review. Currently listed in Who's Who of American Women, she has served on the boards of the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance and of The Heritage Society.
