Bill MoodyInspired by a World War II paratrooper cousin, in 1957 Bill initiated a 33-year smokejumper career, including 18 years as Base Manager of the North Cascades Smokejumper Base located in a remote valley of north-central Washington State.In addition to mokejumping, Bill was certified as an Air Tactical Group Supervisor, Type 3 Incident Commander, and Emergency Medical Technician, parachuting to 31 backcountry medical emergencies. After his retirement, he was also instrumental in creation of the 747 Supertanker as well as in collaborative work with Soviet and other international fire agencies.
