Brenda NiallMelbourne writer Brenda Niall has had a distinguished academic career at Monash University where she was Reader (Associate Professor) in the English Department. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. She now writes fulltime and as won a host of literary prizes, including the National Book Council (Banjo) award and the Fellowship of Australian Writers Biography award for Martin Boyd: a Life; the Victorian Premier's award and the Australian Unity award for her biography of pioneer painter Georgiana McCrae; and the Queensland and Victorian Premiers' awards for The Boyds.
