Byron S HydeByron Hyde is a leading worldwide authority on enteroviral diseases including M.E. and Polio. He is one of only two physicians invited to address the House of Parliament and the House of Lords committee on M.E. in London. He may be one of the few word physicians of whom 90% of his patients for the past 35 years had been referred to him with the diagnosis of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.), New Polio and the multiple diseases and pathologies obscured by the term, CFS. Byron was born in the USA arriving in Canada as a ten year old. At the age of 10 he was hospitalized and bed-ridden for a year with Polio. He has worked in research and as a physician in both Sick Kids Hospital and Ste. Justine's Children Hospitals in Montreal. He has also worked in the United States. He has continued to do house calls across the world to see children and adults with the New Polio and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. He has worked as a volunteer physician in Asia in a Polio orphanage for hundreds of abandoned Polio children. He knows Polio and the New Polio (AFP), both as a child patient and as a physician. Byron has investigated multiple patients diagnosed by authorities with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a dubious, and dangerously misleading definition, not related to M.E.. In so doing he has uncovered a wide range of missed pathologies including malignancies, brucellosis, tuberculosis, cerebral syphilis, mitochondrial disease, genetic illnesses and patients who had multiple major pathologies, all missed by the many physicians who had dismissed them as CFS. He is critical of those physicians who wish to label and dismiss patients rather than investigate and help them either to recover or understand their complex illnesses. Byron, during 35 years has investigated several thousand M.E. patients, demonstrating the extent of their severe disabling disease and often obtaining pensions previously refused to them. He has known some of the world's great M.E. physicians and researchers, often staying at their homes, benefiting from their extensive M.E. libraries, their generosity and kindness. He has dined and talked with the two inventors of the polio immunizations, Jonas Salk and his son in Maine and with Dr Sabin and his wife at their apartment in Washington. Byron Hyde is the only living physician researcher who has visited and examined M.E. patients and visited and/or lived with physicians from each of the M.E. / Polio epidemics at the LA County Hospital epidemic, the Akureyri, Iceland epidemic, the Royal Free epidemic in London, the New Zealand and Australian epidemics, and has examined countless patients from the 1984-1995 epidemic in the North America pan-epidemic period, the effects of which have persisted until today. This book is a publication of Byron Hyde alone. However, he actively solicits donations to the Nightingale Research Foundation in order for them to continue their work dedicated to helping individuals disabled with one of the numerous enteroviral diseases.
