C J VerburgA storyteller ever since she could talk, CJ Verburg spent more than a decade on Cape Cod collaborating on theater projects with the late artist and writer Edward Gorey. Their friendship inspired her elegant art book and theater biography The Theatical Adventures of Edward Gorey (Chronicle Books, 2024), as well as her Edgar Rowdey Cape Cod mystery novels (Croaked, Zapped, and Shafted), her multimedia e-monograph Edward Gorey On Stage, and her play Spin, or Twilight of the Bohemians, winner of the 2012 Centenary Stage Women Playwrights' Series and the 2011 Ashland New Plays Festival. A former editor and freelance writer for major publishers on both coasts, CJ now lives in San Francisco. She also writes the Cory Goodwin mysteries, starring the Boston journalist daughter of NYC private detective Archie Goodwin. Look for her stories in anthologies and e-zines including Fault Lines: Crime Stories by Northern California Writers, Seascape: Best New England Crime Stories 2019, Invasive Species, Mystery Magazine, and Shotgun Honey.
