Carlos Alexandre Netto
Carlos Alexandre Netto is Professor of Biochemistry of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, UFRGS, in Brazil. Graduated in Medicine, he decided for the academic career and took his MsC and PhD Degrees on Biochemistry at the same University and spent two years of Post Doctoral training at the Institute of Psychiatry at the University of London. His academic contribution includes more than 250 scientific papers, and supervision 80 + MsC, PhD and Post-Docs on Neuroscience, mainly on neurobiology of memory, brain ischemia and neuro-protection, neonatal hypoxia-ischemia and spinal cord lesion and stem cells. He was president of the Brazilian Society for Neurosciences and Behavior, SBNeC, and Regional Secretary of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science, SBPC. Dr Netto was President of UFRGS from 2008 to 2016 and is Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, ABC, since 2014.
