She spent countless hours with a ball at her feet but wasn't allowed to play in a team (although she did briefly try to start her own!). Watching the Lionesses play at Wembley decades laer brought up a bucketload of emotions. Driven by these emotions and a need to understand the game's hidden history, she set out on a journey to uncover the stories of the women who made it possible. Clare writes for The Women's Football Magazine and is an experienced epidemiology researcher at the University of Oxford.
