Claudia BarrettAs a little girl of three or four, I took refuge behind my mother's legs. Fear wouldn't allow me to step out and meet the world on it's own terms. Later, I met and studied acting and voice with Harriet Holt, who gave me the courage to become a profesional actress. The Pasadena Playhouse, Warner Bros. and Republic Pictures gave me the opportunity to work with many famous movie stars of the day on screen and in TV roles. When I left acting, I worked at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. My life was enjoyable and interesting. It was sometimes exciting, sometimes challenging, but always fun. Many other doors opened for me, as well, as I sought comfort following a profound personal loss. The soothing words of Dr. Harry Dougles Smith at the Church of Life, the reassuring words of Dr. Hornaday at Founders Church in Los Angeles and the wisdom of his mentor, Dr. Ernest Holms, founder of Religious Science, began to restore my soul and help me to reconnect with the creative power within me to shape the life I wanted to live. In time, my greatest endeavor was taking care of my mother for the last five years of her life. After Mom said goodbye, my friend Beverly invited me to join her and her husband in Sun City, Palm Desert, California. I was allergic to the sun and couldn't stand the summer heat, but soon found the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society, where I learned the delicate expressions of watercolor, the Rancho Mirage Library, and Dorothea Bisbas where I learned about writing poetry and the Sacred Circle at the Center for Spiritual Living, where through mutual sharing of life experiences we all grow and expand our spiritual selves. This book is one of the many expressions of that on-going interior journey that is ours to take. It's my intention to inspire and encourage everyone who reads these words. You, too, can make your dreams come true. You have the talents and the ability to accomplish whatever is yours to do. Tune into Spirit. Read More Read Less
