Cotton PeterPeter Cotton is a semi-retired Professor of Medicine at the Medical university of South Carolina. He grew up in England, but moved to USA 30 years ago. Until that time he did not know that he was named after a rabbit. He was familiar with the Britishauthor Beatrix Potter who wrote about Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, but Petercottontail is an American abbreviation. He wrote about Fred-Fred many years ago for his then small children to teach them about the dangers of crossing the road (and getting squished), but thought no more about it until those -children- had there own small ones, and asked -what happened to Fred-Fred-. We were lucky enough to find a marvelous illustrator- Bonnie Lemaire- and a publisher. The first book -When Fred the Snake got Squished and Mended- was popular and won the New York Best Rhythmic Book StoryJam prize. Two others followed, and the series won the Moonbeams Children's book bronze medal in 2014. Dr Cotton likes to do book readings at schools and book stores. He is deeply fortunate to live with his lovely wife, Marion, on Dewees Island, near Charleston, SC. Between them they have 4 -children-, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is a good golfer but poor fisherman. Read More Read Less
