Civin, MD, is the Associate Dean for Research and the Founding Director of the Center for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Prior to joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Civin spent30 years at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine leading research and clinical pediatric oncology. In addition to holding 27 biomedical patents, Dr. Civin has received wide recognition for his groundbreaking discovery of the CD34 antigen, and isolation of CD34+ stem cells opened entirely new approaches to leukemia treatment and stem cell transplantation.
