David K CundiffProfile David K. Cundiff, MDFrom 1981 to 1998, I practiced, taught, and conducted clinical research in internal medicine and pain control at the LA County + USC Medical Center. For nine of those years, I directed the Cancer and AIDS Pain Service. Aftr this service was terminated, I became a whistleblower, exposing how clinical care inefficiencies increased hospital acute care days and, consequently, hospital revenue. In retaliation, the LA County Administration fired me and had the California Medical Board revoke my medical license. My book, Whistleblower Doctor-The Politics and Economics of Pain and Dying, details this story.Since leaving clinical practice in 1998, I've dedicated myself to researching and writing about numerous evidence-based medicine topics. My published works include: -Euthanasia is Not the Answer-A Hospice Physician's View-Money Driven Medicine-Tests and Treatments That Don't Work-Whistleblower Doctor-The Politics and Economics of Pain and Dying-Grand Bargains-Fixing Healthcare and the EconomyMy passions include reforming the US healthcare system, as detailed in Grand Bargains, and reversing global warming, which I summarize in my initial blog post. Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, including six grandchildren. As I have no income from my medical research, I embrace a minimalist lifestyle inspired by Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. To maintain my health, I practice Hatha yoga, meditation, swimming, and biking and prioritize a diet of minimally processed organic food whenever possible. Read More Read Less
