David McPhailDavid McPhail grew up in Massachusetts and travelled with a band before enrolling in the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He discovered a love for children's books while working as a shipping clerk for a book clearinghouse and published hs first, The Bear's Toothache in 1972.
