David SmallboneDavid Smallbone is Associate Director of the Small Business Research Centre at Kingston University, which he joined in 2004 from Middlesex University. He is also a visiting professor at Hubei School of Economics, Wuhan, China and at the Centre for Enrepreneurship, Innovation and Regional Development in Ventspils, Latvia. David’s research on entrepreneurship and SME development dates back to the 1980s, much of it with an applied policy focus. As a leading expert on entrepreneurship in former socialist economies, David was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Lodz in Poland for his work in this area. David has numerous publications on entrepreneurship in transition economies, among other topics. He is a Past President of the ICSB (2010-11) having previously served as President of the ECSB (2005-07).
