DEAN BRYANT is an award-winning writer and director of musicals, plays, opera, cabaret and screen. He met composing partner Mathew Frank while studying at WAAPA where they wrote Prodigal, which won the Green Room award and was produced of-Broadway. Other musicals include Once We Lived Here (Green Room award), Virgins: A Musical Threesome, The Silver Donkey, and songs for Mr & Mrs Murder. Their musical My Brilliant Career (with co-writer Sheridan Harbridge) premiered at Melbourne Theatre Company to rapturous critical and audience acclaim. Dean created verbatim theatre plays Gaybies (published through Playlab) and Well…that Happened. Cabaret writing includes Christie Whelan-Browne vehicles Show People and Britney Spears: The Cabaret. He wrote and directed the short film Rhyme Time. As director he has received Helpmann, Sydney Theatre and Green Room Awards and has directed for major companies in Australia and internationally, including Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, Michael Cassel Group, Hayes Theatre, Pinchgut Opera, State Theatre Company South Australia and was Associate Director of Melbourne Theatre Company (2016-2019).
