Denise CruzDenise Cruz is a professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. She is the author of Transpacific Femininities: The Making of the Modern Filipina (Duke University Press, 2012) and the editor of Yay Panlilio’sThe Crucible: An Autobiography of Colonel Yay, Filipina American Guerrilla (Rutgers University Press, 2009). Other articles have appeared or are forthcoming in American Quarterly, PMLA, Modern Fiction Studies, American Literature, American Literary History, and in the collection Eating Asian America: A Food Studies Reader. Her research centers on the use of spatial and geographic frameworks to analyze gender and sexuality in national and transnational cultures.
