Dom TheophilePeter Gilet is a published historian who has taught in Australia and overseas. Born in Sydney to a part- Belgian family, he gained a BA (Hons) in French at the University of Sydney, an MA in Mediaeval French at Melbourne University, and a PhD in Arthrian Legend at the University of Poitiers in France. In 2009, Peter worked as a volunteer in the archives at New Norcia translating documents from French amongst which was Bérengier's Histoire which now forms the subject of this book; in 2010, he became the inaugural Abbot Placid Spearritt Memorial Scholar. His scholarship involved the transcription and translation of Léandre Fonteinne's letters which also appear as part of this series. He currently lives in Subiaco and works at the University of Western Australia library, preparing a study on the universal folk tale. Bob Reece is Professor Emeritus in History at Murdoch University and Senior Honorary Research Fellow at the University of W.A. With an M.A. from the University of Queensland and a Ph.D. from the Australian National University, he taught at Murdoch University from 1978 and at University College Dublin from 1987 until 1989. His interest in New Norcia was sparked by his work on Daisy Bates, which led him to publish The Invincibles: New Norcia's Aboriginal Cricketers, 1879-1906 (2014) and a number of articles for New Norcia Studies.
