Donald J SallsDonald Joseph Salls, Jr was born in Trenton, NJ on June 24, 1919 and will turn 100 this year. After growing up in White Plains, NY, Don attended the University of Alabama where he played as a full back on a Nati0nal Championship team that won the Coton Bowl. World War II interrupted his education but months later was sent home from the war with an injury and a Purple Heart. From 1946 - 1964 Don was head football coach of Jacksonville State University, compiling the most wins in JSU history. Don received a PhD in Physical Education and Nutrition from NYU while raising 4 children. In the 60's Dr. Don Salls became known for teaching isometric exercise, around the country and introducing his 10 Static Exercises to millions. Don is an inductee in the following Sports Hall of Fames: Jacksonville State University, Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Westchester County NY, and Calhoun County AL. Read More Read Less
