Doveal GoinsDoveal Goins, Psy.D. currently practices as a mental health therapist and life coach in the state of Maryland. She is the owner of Love Dove Peace Kingdom Enterprises LLC. Dr. Goins, who goes by the name of Dr. Dove, has a Bachelor's degree in Englis, a Master's degree in Education, a Master's degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology from Alliant International University in San Diego, California. Dr. Dove co-authored an article in the Huffington Post entitled, Kim Davis: Not a Rosa, But a Dilemma. She currently works with children, adolescents, and young adults coping with a wide range of psychological conditions including, depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal behaviors, conduct disorders, domestic violence, bipolar disorder, borderline and antisocial personality disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, identity development, adjustment, ADHD, spirituality and LGBT issues. Dr. Dove conducts individual, couples and family therapy. Dr. Dove has experience working in a variety of clinical and forensic settings such as Orange County Heath Care Agency, Juvenile Drug Court in Santa Ana, California, and Los Angeles Probation Department in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, she has experience administering psychological testing. She has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds in substance abuse residential treatment facilities, domestic violence shelters, and faith-based community counseling centers. She completed her Pre-Doctoral internship in Clinical Forensic Psychology at South Central Training Consortium in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Dove is also a former middle school and high school English teacher. Dr. Dove grew up in a large family consisting of eight children, her mother and her father. She has a strong faith-based background, water baptized and Holy Spirit filled, as she was raised in the Apostolic (Christian) religious community. When she entered her young adult years, she became keenly aware of her same-sex attraction to other women. This discovery, however, went against what Dr. Dove understood to be morally and spiritually acceptable. This lead to several emotional, spiritual, and social disturbances that she had to contend with throughout the years. Eventually, she was able to overcome these obstacles and make peace with her spirituality and her sexuality.
