Dusty SmithDusty Smith has been in media since 1999 and began working in Loudoun County in 2004. He has an extensive background covering land use issues, transportation, business, politics, economic development and government in Northern Virginia for multiple pint and online news organizations. After an internship for Fortune magazine's Washington bureau that focused on lobbying and campaign finance, Dusty covered several Northern Virginia jurisdictions. In 2007, the Center for Public Integrity recruited him for a project exposing questionable land acquisition practices. His work has earned statewide awards for a business series, a story about political misconduct and his coverage of a murder-for-hire trial. Dusty has also appeared as a local journalist for several regional and national issues both on NPR's Kojo Nnamdi Show and MSNBC. He lives in Ashburn, VA, with his wife and daughter.
