He has served as a visiting scientist in the Division of Plant Industry at CSIRO; as both a visiting professor in the Department of Genetics and a visiting scholar in the Research School of Biological Sciences at the Australian University; as a visiting professor in the Mathematical Institute at Oxford University, England; and as the Robert Wesson Scholar on Scientific Philosophy and Public Policy at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University.
