Elina M SalminenElina M. Salminen, PhD, is the Associate Director for Humanities Initiatives at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research has focused on what the mortuary record can teach us about the living in general, and about Macedonians in partiular. She is an archaeologist and has worked extensively across Greece, with a focus on the archaeology of ancient households at Kastro Kallithea and Olynthos. In her current work and research, she continues to think deeply about the resonances of the ancient world in our modern communities, with a particular interest in how we can teach about the past in a way that empowers students in the present.
