She has won numerous literary aards including two Pushcart Prizes, and the Emily Clark Balch Award for Fiction given by The Virginia Quarterly Review. Ellen was a MacDowell Colony Fellow, a Radcliffe Bunting Institute Fellow, recipient of an Ingram Merrill Foundation Fellowship, and the St. Botolph Foundation grant for fiction.
