An Argentinean comic artist, Alcatena self-trained before starting his career in the 1970s at Ediciones Récord and DC Thomson, for which he drew several issues of Starblazer.<p> Since then, Alcatena has also done work for Marvel and DC Comics, including ‘Adventures of Superman’, ‘Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight’, ‘Doom 2099’ and ‘Conan’ #10–11.
